There’s something timeless about a wedding by the water—especially when it takes place at a stunning venue like Newport Harbor Island Resort. Alexandra and John’s wedding was the kind of celebration that felt both intimate and elevated, with just the right mix of coastal charm and modern glamour. As a destination wedding photographer, at Jennifer Nichole & Co. we love when couples choose locations that reflect their personality, and this day was every bit as heartfelt and radiant as their love story. From a sun-drenched ceremony by the lighthouse to an all-night dance floor that rivaled any concert, this wedding was a true reflection of Alexandra and John—classic, joyful, and absolutely unforgettable.
A Coastal Wedding Morning at Newport Harbor Island Resort

The day began in light-filled suites overlooking the water, where Alexandra and her bridesmaids enjoyed the slow, sweet start to the morning. The getting ready spaces at the resort were incredibly spacious—featuring a full kitchen, multiple living areas, and oversized windows that let in soft coastal light. From the bride’s suite, you could see a boat anchored in the harbor—a still, romantic image that set the tone for the day ahead. Alexandra’s gown from The White Dress by the Shore, a clean and elegant silhouette by Jenny Yoo, hung delicately against the window while her bridal details were styled nearby. Her jewelry, vow books, and stationery came together in a flatlay that spoke volumes—refined, personal, and timeless. The atmosphere was calm and full of anticipation as hair and makeup by Shelby White Beauty unfolded. Everyone felt the excitement building.
An Emotional First Look & a Major Life Milestone

Their first look took place just steps away from the suite. The moment felt deeply intimate, as John turned around and took in his bride. The emotion hit hard—made even more powerful by the fact that earlier that morning, John had learned he was promoted into a new role at work. The look on his face said it all: love, pride, and the thrill of what lay ahead. With the sound of the water behind them and a gentle breeze lifting Alexandra’s veil, the couple held each other, soaking it all in. These kinds of unscripted moments are what I live to photograph—the quiet, beautiful beats between the big events.
Lighthouse Ceremony at a Newport Harbor Island Wedding Venue

The ceremony took place in front of the Goat Island lighthouse, offering stunning views of the iconic Newport Bridge. Guests sat in neat rows along the waterfront, surrounded by sea air and sunshine. This setting created a peaceful and romantic environment for Alexandra and John’s vows.
As Alexandra walked down the aisle, her gown shimmered in the light, and her veil floated gently in the breeze. Her gaze stayed locked on John the entire time. The couple exchanged heartfelt vows while the lighthouse stood still beside them—a quiet symbol of guidance and strength. Details like the ocean breeze and harbor views made the moment even more magical.
Golden Hour Portraits by the Water

Prior to the ceremony, we explored the property for couples portraits. This venue truly shines in golden afternoon light. Every corner glowed, and a soft wind added gentle movement to Alexandra’s veil. It was the perfect recipe for dreamy images.
We visited the lighthouse, the docks, and open spots with sweeping views of the Newport Bridge. Each location brought out something unique in their connection. Alexandra and John flowed effortlessly between laughter and soft moments. Their ease with each other made these portraits feel less like posed photos and more like fine art storytelling. Every frame became a memory preserved.
A Wedding Party Dressed in Black-Tie Style

This wedding party was effortlessly chic. Alexandra’s bridesmaids chose their own black dresses, each one distinct yet cohesive. The groomsmen complemented them with classic black tuxedos, bringing just the right amount of formality.
We took portraits near the lighthouse and by the water’s edge. These locations helped frame the group naturally, while giving space for fun and relaxed groupings. The energy was electric. Between inside jokes, cheers, and quick bursts of dancing, this crew was full of life. You could tell they were here to celebrate every second of Alexandra and John’s day.
Reception at Sunset: Joy, Candles & Dancing All Night

The reception space at Newport Harbor Island Resort was bathed in soft light, with elegant white linens and floating candles on every table. Greenery garlands ran down the center of each table, offering a natural, minimal touch that echoed the coastal setting. The large windows filled the room with golden light as the sun began to dip behind the horizon.
Guests were welcomed with signature drinks displayed near lush white florals, and the cocktail hour on the deck gave everyone a front-row seat to the water. Inside, modern chandeliers added a touch of glam while table signage and place settings remained simple and classic.
The clean, airy feel of the space gave way to a vibrant atmosphere once the music started. DJ Serg brought the energy, and the dance floor stayed packed well into the evening. Every toast, cheer, and twirl told a story of joy and celebration. From the sparkle of candlelight to the echoes of laughter, it was a night to remember.
Heart-Shaped Sunglasses & Candid Joy

If there was one thing this crew knew how to do, it was dance. Once the heart-shaped sunglasses were passed out, the party reached a whole new level. Guests of all ages threw them on and hit the floor with full energy—twirling napkins, raising glasses, and belting out lyrics like it was a private concert.
The bride and groom led the way, sunglasses on and spirits high. Their guests followed suit, and soon everyone was caught in the moment—laughing, sweating, and fully letting go. Even Jen joined in, heart-shaped shades and all, capturing the joy from the middle of the action.
Every direction you turned, someone was busting a move or raising a glass. These weren’t just dance floor moments; they were the kind of memories that stick with you. It was celebration in its purest form—unfiltered, electric, and deeply fun.
From Childhood Sweethearts to Wedding Day Vows

Alexandra and John’s story began long before their wedding day. They met when they were just 12 years old, sharing summers through family connections and cherishing every rare moment they got to spend together. From their first date at Ferris Acres Creamery (even if it didn’t have cookie dough!) to a surprise proposal in Mystic, Connecticut, their journey has always been built on butterflies, genuine connection, and love that only deepens with time. Capturing this next chapter of their lives was more than a job—it was an honor.
